Earby Town 2, Gargrave 3

Earby never really got in this Craven First Division Cup tie until the second half, and were lucky to be only 2-0 down at half-time.

Gargrave were 2-0 up after only five minutes, thanks to a penalty and free kick.

Town’s best effort came from Damon Whelan, whose shot was touched onto the bar.

Gargrave, who conceded six at home to Earby last week, wasted further chances, and hit the foot of the post.

Earby upped their game in the second half and Matt Nutter pulled one back from close range on 55 minutes after good work by Joel Howard.

But they conceded a third on the break.

Within a minute they pulled one back when substitute Jake Palmer sent up Paul Odroyd to finish wel, and Earby upped the pressure, but they could not find a way through.

Today, Earby are at Silsden White Star, and the reserves host Rolls Reserves, match sponsor Prince & King Financial Services Ltd.
