Nelson drew 1-1 at home to Conference North Bradford Park Avenue on Tuesday night, after opening their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 defeat against Evo-Stik First Division North Hyde United at Little Wembley on Saturday.
Nelson were on the backfoot early on, and former Derby County striker Liam Dickinson gave the visitors the lead inside 15 minutes, finding the net after a cross was parried against the bar by Steven James.
Nelson continued to graft, with James, formerly with Preston, impressing.
Phil Eastwood (pictured) made a series of changes in the second half, and the Blues responded well, getting at the Bradford defence.
They were rewarded when a ball in from the right found Zak Dale, and he equalised with a superb bicycle kick.
On Saturday, the Admirals produced a pleasing display in their first warm-up game.
Nelson fielded a number of new players and trialists, but fell behind on five minutes when Phil Dean broke down the left and found Sam Fitton, who guided a glancing header into the far corner.
Hyde had the chance to double their advantage as Sam Charlesworth conceded a penalty, but the spot kick cannoned off the crossbar and away from danger.
Eastwood made nine changes at the break, including midfielder Oliver Devenney, but Hyde claimed a second goal after Zakeel Parkes benefitted from a mix-up at the back with an easy tap in.
