Fisher-More’s Under 14 Girls’ football team have become the first Pendle school to win a Lancashire Cup.

The girls recently beat St Wilfrid’s 4-0 in the final at Squires Gate’s School Road ground.

In the first round, the Colne school beat St Mary’s, Blackpool 5-1, and backed that up with an 8-2 win over Fulwood Academy in the second round.

That earned Fisher-More a place in the last eight, where they enjoyed a 4-2 win over All Hallows, and in the semi-finals, they completed a comprehensive 11-0 win over Corpus Christi to reach the final in Blackpool.

Two of the girls were then in action for the Lancashire County Schools’ FA Under 14s in the national final at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium on Wednesday.

Caitlin Gerrard and Sadie Mitchell were both involved against Essex County Schools’ FA as Lancashire prevailed 2-0 on penalties, following a goal-less draw. Caitlin played the full game and Sadie was a first half substitute.
