Barnoldswick footballer Jake Woodward helped North Yorkshire County Schools Under 16s beat Lancashire 2-0 to secure a place in their first ever Inter-County Cup final.
Jake, 15, lives in Barnoldswick and goes to Ermysteds School in Skipton.
He has played football since the age of five for Barnoldswick Town, before moving to Fulledge Colts aged 12, and now plays for Nelson Under 16s.
He was asked to trial for North Yorks Under 16 along with two school mates from Ermysteds, Freddie Binns from Carleton and Jordan Harding from Skipton.
Jordan also plays for Nelson Under 16s with Jake.
All three were successful and started their county cup journey last October, as 34 counties entered the competition, and the team, coached by John Wharton from Thirsk school, have travelled the country in their journey to the finals, beating Staffordshire, Surrey, Merseyside and now Lancashire to meet Sussex in the final.
The date and venue for the final will be announced on March 29th, with past finals played at venues such as Birmingham City, Coventry City, Villa Park and Leicester City, so it will be a fantastic experience for the team to look forward to! Jake plays either as a right wingback or right back.
