Matej Vydra hoping the Clarets can continue from where they left off!

Matej Vydra is hoping the Clarets can add to their Premier League points tally when Arsenal come to Turf Moor at the weekend.

The Czech Republic international secured a fourth successive point at home for Sean Dyche's side when ending a run of 1,212 minutes without a goal in the top flight against Leicester City.

Burnley, who shot down the Gunners at the Emirates in December, which ensured the club had now beaten all of the established 'Big Six' clubs in the top flight, held the FA Cup holders to a goalless draw on their last visit.

And the 28-year-old is confident they can add to that if they continue from where they left off against the Foxes in midweek.

“It was a good point and we could be proud of our performance," he said.

“It was tough after the weekend because we lost 4-0. We needed to react like this every single game and carry on.

“I think we stepped up and showed a very good performance, especially in the second half.

“We could have taken more than one point but [Kasper] Schmeichel made a couple of very good saves, so I think it was a good point for both.

“We have to take this performance into the next games.

“We have very good points so we have to go step by step and refocus for the next one and hopefully we will get another point or three.”

Vydra made Hamza Choudhury pay for his early error when capitalising on his loose pass before taking on Wilfred Ndidi and finishing emphatically past Schmeichel.

The former Watford and Derby County forward had netted in cup games against Sheffield United, Millwall and MK Dons this term, but he hadn't netted in the league since a 3-0 win over AFC Bournemouth more than 12 months ago.

“It was a bad pass from the opposite guy and I read the pass," he said. "I was in front of the keeper and I finished with the goal which earned a point, so it was a good night for me.

“I have waited so long again for a goal in the Premier League and I’m so happy because it was against a very good side.

“It was after four minutes so it helped us a lot. Then we conceded but in the second half we showed the quality up front and we had a couple of very good chances to score but (Kasper) Schmeichel made some very good saves."
