The Republic open their World Cup 2022 Group A qualifying campaign on Wednesday against Serbia at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade, and then host Luxembourg at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday, March 27th.

Ireland’s third fixture of the camp is against World Cup hosts Qatar, who have been invited by UEFA to join the World Cup qualifying group to play friendlies in the build-up to the tournament.

The game will be played at the Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary, on Tuesday.

Long, who has 17 caps and one goal for his country, has only made three starts and one substitute appearance for Burnley since the last international camp.

Brady, with 54 caps and eight goals, has, meanwhile, made 11 starts for the Clarets and five substitute appearances since November, scoring once in the 1-1 draw at home to Everton in December.

Meanwhile, Bailey Peacock-Farrell is in the Northern Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Italy in Parma on March 25th, and Bulgaria at Windsor Park on March 31st.

There is also a home friendly against USA on March 28th.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson was named in the Iceland squad on Wednesday evening, as they start their Group J campaign.

They face Germany at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena in Duisburg on Thursday, before travelling to the Republican Stadium in Yerevan to face Armenia on Sunday, March 28th.

Iceland are then in action at the Rheinpark Stadion in Vadu, Liechtenstein, on Tuesday, March 31st.

Brady and Gudmundsson have recently returned to fitness for Burnley, having been stop-start with injury, but boss Sean Dyche said: “If they go away and get involved, you’re hopeful they can get match practice, match sharpness, because their base fitness is good.

“If they don’t go away, there is more work and recovery here, so it’s win-win, barring anything untoward happening.”
