Adam Pearson scored a late winner for Trawden Celtic at Earby Town in the first round of the Premier Division League Cup just before the turn of the year.

A spirited Earby batttled for everything and, on the half hour, having withstood lots of Celtic pressure, Earby broke to take the lead through Holmes.

Celtic again came out strongly in the second half and eventually grabbed an equalliser through Thomas Swindells.

Celtic again piled on the pressure but often looked vulnerable when Earby broke quickly.

As the game looked to be heading for extra time, Pearson popped up with a clever finish to take a relieved Celtic through.

Trawden Celtic Reserves also won 2-1 at home to Horton.

Honours were even at the break after Max Foxcroft’s fine finish was cancelled out by an equally fine effort from Horton.

George Watson hit a late winner for Celtic.
