Accrington started the game with a bang, straight from kick-off James Gray cut inside and fired a shot over Gilks’ bar and into the stand housing the Burnley fans.

Danny Ings thought he had put the Clarets ahead after Dean Marney’s shot was parried by Turner into the feet of the hitman who tapped into the empty net, the linesmans flag denying him his first pre-season goal.

Steven Hewitt the only survivor of the first half saw his inch-perfect ball across the face of goal to summer signing Jutkiewicz shoot past Turner, once again the linesman’s flag denying the Clarets the opener.

Burnley finally opened the scoring against their League Two opponents, Jason Gilchrist who scored in Austria last week slotted home after fantastic wing play from influential midfielder Arfield.

With the clock winding down, Windass hammered a fierce drive just wide of Cisak’s goal, before referee David Coote called a halt to proceedings.
