A CHARLIE Austin strike deep in to stoppage time sealed the points for the Clarets against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.

After an uninspiring first half the home side took the lead in the 59th minute when Cody McDonald coasted in to the box to head Chris Hussey's enticing cross beyond Lee Grant.

But Eddie Howe's side responded well and forced the Sky Blues on the back foot. A number of chances went begging before Jay Rodriguez's flick on fell to Ross Wallace inside the area and he calmly side-footed the ball in to the roof of the net.

But there was a negative to Burnley's equaliser; Rodriguez was forced out of action after falling subject to a horrendous aerial challenge by Richard Wood in the build up to the goal.

Then, in a stop-start game which saw referee Graham Scott brandish seven yellow cards, City's Gael Bigirimana was dismissed for a wreckless tackle, with studs raised, on defender Keiran Trippier.

That was advantage Burnley and in the fourth minute of time added on Austin pounced to score his eighth of the season and seal the points for the Clarets as he slid the ball past Joe Murphy from close range.
