Colne swept aside the challenge of Barnoldswick Town with a five-goal salvo at the Silentnight Beds Stadium on Saturday to go through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup.
The Reds made the breakthrough with half-time approaching, when Jay Hart provided a low cross from the left, and although Spencer Jordan could not reach it, Ben Hoskin came in to fire home from beyond the far post.
And on the stroke of half-time, former Town man Jordan got to the bye-line and his high cross was dispatched into the roof of the net by a bullet header from Hoskin.
Just two minutes into the second half, Colne went further ahead when Hart and Danny Boyle put pressure on the Town defence and Jordan fired his shot into the roof of the net from close range.
Colne went further ahead after 68 minutes when Kenny Taylor cut in from the left and chipped the ball to Jordan to finish into an empty net.
Colne completed the rout after 83 minutes when Taylor’s through ball sent Sakeel Abdullah on a jinking run, and he fired home their fifth goal.
Colne now look forward to a trip to Tadcaster Albion in the next round on August 29th.
In the league on Tuesday night, Colne extended their 100% record at the top as they beat AFC Darwen 6-1 at home.
Darwen took a shock lead after only six minutes when Connor Gaul was brought down in the area by Marc Young and Luke McKenna fired home the resulting spot kick.
But Young fmade amends on 16 minutes as he found the net from a corner.
Colne struck again after 26 minutes when Kieran Demaine fired hone from another corner.
With half-time approaching, Colne went further ahead when Jordan’s shot was parried by Darwen keeper Anthony Windle, only for Taylor to fire the loose ball into the net.
Boyle slotted a fourth after 63 minutes, and 10 minutes later, Hart found the net with a shot in off the far post.
The Reds rounded off the scoring after 75 minutes as Simon Nangle scored with an angled shot into the far corner.
Tomorrow Colne are at home to Runcorn Town.
