A near post header from man of the match Michael Morrison saw Sacred Heart Redskins beat XLCR Pendle Charity League champions Trawden Venue 3-2 to win the Bird Cup for the first time.
Morrison stooped to head home a Wez Hensby corner in the 58th minute of a game in which Hearts had led twice.
Wayne Morrison gave Hearts the lead in the 16th minute from a well-executed free kick, but Ben Gorman restored parity with an excellent finish following great work from fellow striker Tom Swindells three minutes later.
Gary Hodgkinson restored Sacred Heart’s lead on the half hour with a brilliant long range effort.
Trawden equalised again from Gorman’s well-worked free kick early in the second half.
For the Redskins, it was third time lucky in the final of the competition sponsored by Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Chris Scragg from the Trust’s Media Crew presented the trophy.
