The FA have released a statement describing some Burnley supporters' behaviour towards Brighton left back Gaetan Bong as "unacceptable."

A section of the support on Saturday at Turf Moor booed Bong's every touch in the goal-less draw.

Earlier this month, the Football Association announced that an Independent Regulatory Commission “determined that on the balance of probabilities, an allegation that Jay Rodriguez had racially abused Bong was not proven."

Bong stands by his claim that Burnley-born Rodriguez, who started his career at Turf Moor, racially abused him during Brighton’s 2-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion in January.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said on Saturday: “I would have to say that I thought the reaction of the Burnley supporters towards Gaetan every time he got the ball was shameful."

And the FA statement added: "The FA considers the behaviour of some supporters on Saturday towards Gaetan Bong to be unacceptable.

"It needs repeating, following the recent disciplinary matter, that there was no suggestion by any party involved in that case that the player made a malicious or fabricated complaint. The FA was wholly satisfied that the complaint was made in absolute good faith.

"The FA takes all allegations of discrimination extremely seriously and continues to encourage all participants who believe that they have been the subject of or witness to discriminatory abuse to report this through the appropriate channels."
