'Supercomputer' predicts where Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle and Fulham will finish in the Premier League

After picking up five points from their last few Premier League games - including victory in a 'performance of the season' contender against Everton at Goodison Park - a sophisticated ‘supercomputer’ has predicted where the Clarets and their top flight rivals are likely to finish in the table.

FiveThirtyEight’s data model uses statistics to map out the season, and they are predicting another close race for Premier League survival and the European places.

Burnley's odds of survival this season had been fluctuating as they dipped in and out of trouble at the bottom end of the table.

However, results against Leicester City, Arsenal and the Toffees earlier this month has given Sean Dyche's side some breathing space from relegation trouble ahead of the international break.

The model anticipates a nerve-jangling battle to avoid the drop and predicts a tense battle between the league's elite for a top four finish.
