Colne turned in an excellent performance to earn a well-deserved 3-3 draw against Evo-Stik Premier Division Ramsbottom United at the XLCR Stadium on Saturday.

The Reds rose to the occasion as they matched their opponents in every department in a closely-fought contest.

The Rams took the lead after seven minutes when Lee Gaskell fired home on the turn after a low cross from Dominic McCall.

Colne struck back with a well-worked goal on 26 minutes when Jay Hart’s low ball was finished by Danny Boyle.

Ramsbottom restored their lead on 36 minutes when Alex Meeney was blocked off by Ben Hoskin and Lee Pugh converted the spot kick.

Colne levelled again when Kenny Taylor met Boyle’s cross to make it 2-2, before McCall put the visitors back in front from close range.

In the closing minutes Taylor fired a third equaliser.
