Barnoldswick Town were knocked out of the Buildbase FA Vase on Saturday at the Silentnight Stadium by familiar foes.
Dunston UTS, who beat Town in the Emirates FA Cup last season, only for Danny Craig’s side to claim revenge in the same competition last month,
In front of a healthy crowd of 215, the conditions caused and clear-cut chances were few and far between early on.
Barnoldswick imposed a lot of pressure for a period, but on 32 minutes Dunston broke, and after an interchange of passes gave Liam Thear the space to pick out Scott Heslop 15 yards out, and he drove a shot low into the bottom right corner of the net.
Dunston seemed to settle after taking the lead, and just on half-time Heslop had a header saved by King.
The second half started in bright sunshine with black clouds looming, and Barnoldswick had a chance when Jake Lloyd shot just wide from 20 yards.
King saved from Martin, before Lloyd again shot wide.
Thear had a shot deflected wide, and Michael Hall headed over from the corner, before Adam Yates forced a save at the other end with a 30-yard shot.
Town pushed hard for an equaliser, but ran out of time, and are at Irlam’s Ambitek Stadium in the league tomorrow.
