Barnoldswick Town boss Danny Craig says that he’s happy with his squad on the whole but will make some minor tweaks over the summer.
Stewart Airdrie’s successor at the Silentnight Stadium has been pleased with what he’s seen so far as the club registered a mid-table finish in the Hallmark Security Premier Division while getting all the way to the Macron Cup final held at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium.
“I’m pleased with what I’ve got; I’ve got a good squad,” he said. “I think I’ll need to add one or two, not a lot, it doesn’t need an overhaul.
“I’ll try my best to add one or two in key areas. I come from a coaching background so I want to work with what I’ve got.
“I’ll keep hold of the best that we’ve got. They reached a cup final, they deserved to be there, and they finished smack bang in mid-table. I’ve got good players and with a couple of additions we’ll be challenging.
“I’ve got a good squad, a good group of lads and there’s no reason why we can’t give a few teams a rough ride next year and be up there challenging.”
Town missed out on claiming silverware in the cruellest of circumstances, losing on penalties against City of Liverpool. However, Craig feels that the cup run has given this players the taste for success.
“We want to be involved in that all the time,” he said. “We want to be involved in those kind of games all the time if we can.
“We don’t want to be playing games that don’t mean anything. They’ve had a taste of it now so we’ll see if we can go one step better next year.
“They’ve got to want it. When they’re involved in games that mean something they want more of it. I just hope that they’ll come back bigger and stronger.
“A win would definitely have kicked us on but there’s a little bit of repair work to do now. It’s the same with every defeat.”
