Town saw a two-goal lead disappear as they were beaten 4-2 against Ashton Athletic on Saturday.
Barnoldswick bossed the opening exchanges, pressing well from the off, and they won an eighth-minute penalty for a foul just inside the area, with Ben Gorman just beating keeper Martin Pearson from the spot.
And midway through the half it was 2-0 as John Beckwith scored from a corner after a goalmouth scramble.
Within six minutes, Ashton pulled one back through Sam Bailey, after fine work from Paul Watson.
And the hosts levelled matters 10 minutes from the break as Isaac Kusaloka hit the post and Danny Smith turned in the rebound.
Four minutes later, Athletic went ahead as Danny Regan crossed for Watson to smash into the bottom corner.
The conditions worsened during the interval, and Town’s hopes of recovering a point or better were ended 15 minutes from time when Sam Bailey floated a corner to the back post, and Luke Holden volleyed home.
Town’s home game with Abbey Hey on Tuesday night was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and they are at Bootle tomorrow, before Ashton Athletic come to the Silentnight Stadium on Tuesday night.
Town’s East Lancashire League side lost 2-1 at home to Prairie United on Saturday.
Barnoldswick went one down after 10 minutes following weak defending from a corner.
They never really threatened the visitors’ goal, but an improved second half performance saw a number of chances created.
The visitors extended their lead in the 65th minute, slightly against the run of play, and although, five minutes later, Richard Scott chipped the keeper following good work by debutant Jake Hartley, it was too little, too late.
