Barnoldswick Town’s assistant boss Paul Cruz is confident that the club can culminate the campaign in the top 10 after registering one of their best results of the term.
Runcorn Town’s hopes of securing the Hallmark Security Premier Division title were severely dented at the Pavilions as the visitors took maximum points in a seven-goal thriller.
Defender Jonathan Hodgkinson sent Town on their way to a fourth victory in succession when converting a corner after Shaun Airey’s header had been cleared off the line moments earlier.
Mark Reed equalised from close range in the 17th minute but the away side took the advantage in to the break when Aaron Hollindrake guided John Beckwith’s cross in to the net.
Town fell behind before the hour when the hosts netted twice in quick succession; the first when Mark McGregor scored with a free header from a set-piece while Paul McManus finished from the penalty spot.
However, Hollindrake levelled in the 71st minute when slotting in to the corner left-footed after manufacturing space inside the box.
And Arley Barnes sealed the win with a quarter-of-an-hour of the fixture remaining when his free kick took a nick on its way in.
“It was a really good win,” said Cruz. “We went there full of confidence and it showed. That’s four wins on the bounce now and team morale is high at the moment. I couldn’t have asked any more of the players.
“It’s definitely up there, especially with the manner of how we went about it. We went 3-2 down having led 2-1 at half-time and we could’ve collapsed from there. The reaction of the players was great and it’s certainly one of our best wins this season.”
He added: “We’ve definitely got a chance of finishing in the top half. We’ve got that momentum now and the players are full of confidence.
“Four wins in succession is a great return at any level. Ideally we want to finish in the top 10 which will set us up for next season.”
Town host Congleton Town tomorrow (kick off 3pm) before travelling to West Didsbury and Chorlton on Tuesday (kick off 7-45pm).
