Vokes rated touch and go

Sean Dyche feels he has sufficient forward options if Sam Vokes isn't passed fit for the trip to Birmingham.

Vokes is rated "touch and go" after picking up a groin strain against Leeds United, but with Ashley Barnes fit again, appearing in the last three games as a substitute, and Rouwen Hennings available, Dyche is ready for the potential absence of his 14-goal Championship player of the month.

David Jones is also a doubt after coming off sick against Leeds, and Dyche said: "Sam and Jonah are touch and go a little bit, especially Vokesy.

"Jonah was more unwell, so hopefully he’ll be fit for selection and clear of everything. Vokesy has had some treatment today so we’ll see how he is tomorrow."

On Vokes, with four more games, and the visit of Middlesbrough to come on Tuesday, he added: "There has to be a sensible viewpoint. He's not a million miles off, it's just a judgement call on Friday.

"I've had to include or not include people before when you're looking beyond the initial moment, so we'll see on that.

"But you've got Rouwen, who has matured into the season, Barnesy, and we're thankful we still have those options available.

"It's too early for Juke, but he's making good progress.

"The idea of a squad is to utilise it when necessary. I don't always think it's necessary."
