Earby and Barnoldswick both suffered comprehensive defeats in the Ribblesdale League on Saturday.

Barnoldswick went down to Read by eight wickets at Victory Park, with Bailey Richards the star of the show for the visitors.

His sensational figures of 6-49 limited the hosts to 146 – of which Matt Haines (pictured), batting at nine, made 61. Lowerhouse professional Ockert Erasmus added 3-40.

After Michael Whalley exited on 41, with Read at 84-2, Erasmus and Connor Lowes finished unbeaten to ease them over the line, Erasmus ended on 67, finding the boundary on 11 occasions, while Lowes made 30.

Earby, meanwhile, were also heavily beaten by Euxton, losing by 128 runs at the Applegarth.

Euxton were 226 all out, thanks to significant knocks from skipper Andrew Winrow (27), Hassan (57), James Bone (24), Mark Winrow (20) and Matthew Johnson (30), before Earby were all out for 98 in reply.
