Pendle Martial Arts Academy, based in Brierfield, will be holding the North West Groundfighting Championship on Sunday, June 12th at their dojo on Colne Road.

The competition is open to boys and girls aged between five and 15 in different weight catagories, and there will be gold, silver and bronze medals awarded for each weight class, as well as prizes awarded on the day for best overall ground fighter.

There will also be a senior section of the competition.

Chief instructor at the academy, 4th Dan black belt John Stokes, said: ‘This is now the fourth groundfighting championship we have held at the academy, and will hopefully be the best yet. We are hoping to get many clubs from the local area to come down and compete and try and win a medal.”

Entry to the competition is priced at £8 per competitor for juniors and £10 for seniors.
