Alexandra Snooker Club A took the honours in the Pendle Pool League’s Leaver Bros. Memorial Trophy Final, beating Barnoldswick Legion 4-2.
It was Barnoldswick Legion who stole an early march, as they won both doubles frames, as Ken Hindsley and Andy Boardman beat Dave Drinkwater and Andy Cairns, then Alastair Turner and Chris Wright doubled the score with victory over Keith Ormerod Jnr and John Lanceley.
Leading the fightback for Alex, Lanceley never really gave Neil Bamber any chance, and Paul Andrews rode his luck against Turner to level the match at 2-2.
Next for Alex came Andy Cairns playing Chris Wright, and the former came out on top to take a one-frame advantage.
In what turned out to be the deciding frame, canny play from Ormerod Jnr. forced a decisive error from opponent Pete Booth to complete a hard-earned victory for the Holme Street crew, who were ably captained by Carole Ormerod.
