Andy Brandwood missed out on cup glory by the narrowest of margins at Earby’s Pendle and Craven Croquet Club.
In the annual B Level tournament, the local was edged out by Fylde’s Liz Wilson on a tie break.
Brandwood beat off competition from Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Warwickshire in his bid for honours, winning four out of five games.
However Liz, the only woman taking part in the event, matched that form and came out on top in the game that mattered.
The Trophy was presented to Liz by Barry Keen, a past Chairman of The Croquet Association.
Meanwhile, in the league, Pendle and Craven teams lie in joint first place in the Midweek Handicap, the Short Croquet, the Advanced and the East Pennine.
