Barnoldswick were unable to halt Settle’s march towards the CBS Office Supplies Ribblesdale League title on Saturday.

The league leaders claimed all 12 points again at Marshfield and now sit 24 points clear of Whalley in second, with 24 points available.

Barnoldswick dropped to third after the four-wicket defeat, a further nine points adrift.

Barlick batted first and were dismissed for 106 in 42 overs.

Abdul (16) and Amir (9) Saddique put on 23 for the first wicket, but the pair were back in the pavilion with 36 on the board, both bowled by Sadrian Ward.

Crucially, professional Shashrika Pussegolla followed four runs later for four, again to Ward, caught by William Davidson.

Nabeel Ahmed (9) was bowled by Andrew Davidson at 42, to leave Barlick in trouble.

Captain Umar Saddique (15) and overseas amateur Paddy Turner (23) put on 20 for the fifth wicket, but only Jonathan Beech (18) showed further resistance as Andrew Davidson finished with 5-25and Ward 3-45.

Sajid Akhtar took 5-32 from 13 overs in Settle’s reply, but the hosts got home with 9.1 overs and four wickets in hand as Ward hit 21, and Callum Lockett 28 not out.

Barnoldswick are at home to Whalley on Saturday as they look to climb back into second place, before rounding off their season a week tomorrow at Read.
