Brandon seals Captain’s Day win

One hundred competitors took part in a full handicap stableford competition for Brian Chapman’s Captain’s Day at Ghyll Golf Club on Sunday.

The weather was favorable and the course was in an excellent condition as Brandon Cocker strode to victory with 42 points beating Jason Wright, also on 42 points, on a back nine card playoff.

Third place went to Howard Thompson on 40pts who ousted Sheldon Pickles , also on a card playoff.

Keith Nash came in fifth with 39pts

Other results were as follows: Front nine, Bill Aitken 22pts;Back nine, Daniel Horne 22pts; Mid six, Ian Heald 15pts; Senior’s prize for over 60s, Alan Waterworth 37pts; Nearest the pin at the Greenberfield hole, Andy Gibb 34in.

On Saturday, the juniors were not so lucky competing for the Captain’s Junior prize.

Conditions were terrible and credit must go to all the juniors who took part. In the end the competition was restricted to 14 holes. Emma Blades took first prize from Kyle Horne with Spencer Datkiewicz in third place.
