Colne ladies compete in Ping fourball betterball

Colne Golf Club’s ladies competed in the Ping fourball betterball competition this week, with Irene Lonsdale and Tina Fishwick winning with 45 points.

Runners-up on a card play-off from Liz Gornal and Eva Pinder were Beverley Wellock and Marie Lonsdale with 41 points.

The Captain’s mixed betterball competition was also held on the run up to Captain’s Day .

The winners were Lady Captain Cheryl Barnes and husband Stephen with 48 points.

Runners-up with 44 points were Stella and David Kitson.

Colne Golf Club have just introduced a new green fee on a Friday after 1 p.m., when visitors can come and play nine holes for £9.

This is proving popular and is a good way to get a taste of what is on offer up at Law Farm.

This Sunday, July 15th, and next Sunday, July 22nd, the club are holding a family day where anyone, old or young, can come and see what golf is about.

There will be facilities for anyone to try their hand at golf. Equipment will be provided, along with refreshments and the chance to chat with members

This week, the event will be held from 1-3 p.m., and on the 22nd, it will take place between 10 a.m. and noon.

All the activities are free.

l Ghyll Golf Club members competed for the Slater Centenary Shield on Sunday.

The winner was Andrew Harling with a score of 71–5–66.

Others winners were, in Division One, John Blakemore, with a round of 76–8–68, in Division Two, Ian Magill with a 77–11–66, and, in Division Three, Paul Barnes’ 90–19–71 took the honours.
