With the dark, winter months and New Year Resolutions still fresh in our minds, Pendle Leisure Trust is encouraging everyone to take to the water – whether it’s for fun, fitness or safety reasons.

With numerous activities, challenges and offers at each of its three centres – Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson, Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne and West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick – the trust is looking at ways to keep all ages entertained.

Chief executive Phil Storey said: “Swimming is a great way to keep fit – and ideal during the cold, winter months.

“We have some fantastic facilities and offer such a varied timetable of water-related activities. We provide public swimming seven days a week, with early morning and late night sessions, in national size pools.

“We cater for everyone, from mums-to-be and new mums with aquanatal and aquababes sessions.

“We offer lessons to young and old and provide fun for all the family with pool inflatables, Water Walkerz and various challenges.

“We are also making it affordable for everyone with the introduction of some ridiculously low prices on certain days.

“Swimming isn’t just about keeping fit and active. It is also a great way to spend quality leisure time with your friends and family in a safe and warm environment.”

Under the heading of “Take the Plunge”, the trust has come up with some super swim savers, including swimming sessions for just £1 or £2 for four people at West Craven Sports Centre and Pendle Leisure Centre.

The price of family swims has been slashed by half at West Craven Sports Centre and Pendle Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoons, with inflatable fun sessions two for the price of one at Pendle Wavelengths.

And children can be entertained with Splashdown and Wet and Wild activities, which include pool inflatables, Water Walkerz and lifeguard challenges at West Craven and Pendle Wavelengths.

Exercising in your lunch break is even more accessible with Lunchtime Dips costing £1.50 at West Craven Sports Centre and Pendle Leisure Centre and over 50s can take part in the Nifty Fifties sessions for just £1.50 at Pendle Wavelengths.

So what are you waiting for? Keep fit, enjoy, take up a challenge and have fun swimming. Take the Plunge with Pendle Leisure Trust and get back in the pool!
