David fires a hole-in-one at Colne Golf Club’s Medal competition

The October medal at Colne Golf Club produced another hole-in-one as David Cockell sank his tee shot on the 177-yard, par three 14th.

The competition was won by the in form Dan Norris with a round of 89-23=66 while in second place, by virtue of a card play-off, was Jeff Ellis with 89-22=67.

Henry Nixon culminated the round in third place after firing 75-8-67.

Despite the glorious weather, none of Nelson Golf Club’s lady members managed to play to par.

The Stableford Singles competition was won on a card play-off by Anne Kendra with 34 points ahead of runner-up Pam Pickles.

• Colne Amateur Swimming Club travelled to the Accrington Academy for their final Friendly League fixture of the season to face Pioneer ‘79.

The meeting was closely contested but it was Pioneer who triumphed with a 67 points to 50 victory.

However, there was plenty to cheer about for Colne’s swimmers as 13 new personal bests were set.

• First half goals from Ethan Connor, Jack Bradley and Finn Buck secured a 3-2 win for Pendle Forest Under 13s Tornadoes against Darwen Rangers while Luke Barker picked up the man of the match accolade.

• Colne Cricket Club will host a holiday camp for school children during October half-term.

Those who attend can expect an action-packed week filled with a variety of activities including sports led by qualified coaches, Halloween themed trips and disco, arts and crafts, den building, cooking, fancy dress competitions and much more.

The camp, which will run from October 26th until October 30th, is £12 per day or £50 for the week with the day running from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
