Pendle Forest Hockey Club’s Under 15s have been crowned league champions!
Forest beat Longridge 3-0 in their final game in the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey League, with two goals from Thea Cormack and one from Freya Bythell, to finish the campaign with a 100% record.
For closest rivals Longridge, it was a first defeat of the season, as Forest finished with a maximum 21 points, eight clear at the top.
Elsewhere, despite a beautiful morning on Saturday, the weather sadly beat Forest’s senior teams.
Both the first team game against Clitheroe and Blackburn Northern, and the seconds’ clash with Lancaster, fell victim to the weather, with the pitch at Marsden Heights covered in snow.
The third team were without a fixture.
Today, Forest’s first team – leaders of the North Hockey Women’s League Division 2 North West, travel to face second place Garstang, kick-off at noon, looking to extend their 100% start to the season, with the hosts a point adrift, having played a game more than the locals.
The second team, in fifth, are at third place Preston Ladies, kick-off 11-45 a.m., in the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey League Premier Division.
And the third team, who currently top the Third Division after four wins from four games, are due to host Preston Ladies’ thirds at Marsden Heights, with kick-off at 1-15 p.m.
