Pendle Forest first team beat Bolton 6-0 on Saturday in their second friendly in preparation for life in North Division One.

Forest settled well and dominated possession in the first quarter of the game.

Forest went 1-0 up when Charlotte Hartley hit a reverse stick shot towards goal for Karen Wignall to deflect past the Bolton goalkeeper.

Then Freya Bythell drove into the D and, unchallenged, hit a fierce shot at goal that seemed to go through the keeper.

Hartley was finding herself in a lot of space up front and a pinpoint cross allowed Bythell to deflect her second goal into the bottom corner.

Hartley was green carded for dissent and took to the sidelines for a two-minute spell before returning, taking the ball past the goalkeeper, with a penalty stroke being awarded just as she was about to slot the ball home.

This led to further dissent and a five-minute spell on the sideline, while Dani Hornby stepped up to take the stroke and saw a poor attempt saved.

Forest started the second half with a number of short corners and Hartley finally found herself on the scoresheet when Lisa Crewe swept the ball towards goal for Hartley to deflect the ball over the keeper.

Bythell then completed her hat-trick with a brilliant solo run before slotting home.

Thea Cormack completed the scoring with a thumping strike across the goalkeeper.

With almost 15 minutes left, Hayley Baines went to tackle a Bolton defender and unfortunately took a stick to the forehead, resulting in a lengthy delay and an early finish to the game.

Forest play Brooklands Poynton away in their final warm up game before the season starts on September 23rd at home to Chester.

Forest’s second team won 4-3 against Brookfields at Witton Park on Saturday, also in a friendlyy, with Cath Hutchinson netting twice, Janet Mitchell-Stanworth scoring from a short corner and Cathy Kilgallon completing the scoring.

The thi3rd team completed a full house for the club with a 2-0 friendly victory over Bolton seconds. Ann-Marie Lambert scored a rocket of a shot while Rebecca Whitham-Kay converted a flick. The third team have a friendly at Windermere tomorrow.
