Pendle Forest’s game on Saturday at Northern was abandoned with 15 minutes remaining, with Forest 1-0 up.

They await to see if the result will stand.

Forest started well and after a run of pressure had the ball in the back of the net after Olivia Purtill swept the ball into the bottom corner - though the goal was disallowed after the ball hit a Forest foot before going in.

Forest continued to press and were awarded three penalty corners in a row, the third resulting in Cathy Waters finding the bottom corner.

Northern managed to ruffle the Forest defence, with a one on one blocked by goalkeeper Laura Kendall.

But Forest continued to find space in the centre of the pitch and long balls from Fiona Head and Kayleigh McKane allowed them to keep the pressure on.

Northern packed their defence but Forest almost found a way through when Waters hit the inside of the post, with the ball skimming across the goal.

In the second half Waters unbelievably again hit the post and saw the ball roll across the line, then with 15 minutes to go, Karen Nuttall found herself clear.

The Northern keeper made a late sweep for the ball but took out the player and was yellow carded, with a penalty awarded - although a heavy hail shower saw the match abandoned, leaving Forest awaiting the decision of a possible replay with the league committee.
