Colne Junior Badminton Club’s recent Christmas tournament produced a high standard of play.

In the starters and beginners section, the group one round robin winner was Daisy Hill, with Kaitlin Bradley runner-up.

Daisy went through to the final to face group two winner Cameron Taylor, with Hollie Corbett runner-up.

And the final was won by Cameron.

The advanced group played a doubles competition.

Group one winners were Chloe Fitzpatrick and Gregan Baker, ahead of Jessica Beechey and Michael Paterson, while group two was topped by Daniel Arnott and Miles Parris, who beat Alfie Spain and Harry Walkden.

The final, with a standard of badminton worthy of the adult leagues, was a very close, hard-fought game, resulting in a win by 21-18 to Chloe and Gregan.

The most improved Ppayer of 2013, as voted for unanimously by the coaches, for regular attendance, excellent court etiquette, sportsmanship, and excellent badminton skills and match play, went to Connor Parris.
