Fred and Pauline Greenwood, who are due to retire at the end of the season, hosted their last President’s Day at Marsden Park.
Winner on the day was John Richards, who won his first board competition.
His score of 44 points was three points ahead of John Greenwood, who beat Phillip Smith on a card play-off, with Steve Green’s 40 points taking fourth place, again on a card play off from Karl Gibbons, with Craig Watson in sixth place with 38 points.
Eva Pinder’s 37 points won the ladies’ prize, with Janet Kelly runner-up, three shots behind. Jake Proctor won the junior prize.
Colne Ladies’ Bronze team fought off a strong Pleasington Ladies team in the final of the East Division of Lancashire Ladies Golf at Lytham Green Drive, winning 4-1.
The team – captain Anne Graham, Stella Kitson, Linda Ryder, Carol Robinson and Eileen Foulds – will now go forward to the semi-finals and represent the area at Swinton Park in Manchester.
Last Thursday, the Ladies of Nelson Golf Club participated in a Medal round.
This was won by Sandra Driver with an 83-13-69.
Second was Betty Dixon with a 92-18-74, and third was Sheila Birchall with a 104-29-75.
The Nine-Hole Competition was won by Pam Derbyshire.
The Seafood Pub Company has agreed a deal with Nelson Golf Club that will see them sponsor their Open Mixed Team of Four competition on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ghyll members competed for the Proctor Bowl on Sunday.
The winner was former assistant green keeper Jonny McGeachie with a 73-7-66.
Division One winner was Matthew Heald with a 75-8-67, Division Two winner was Neil Clapham with a 79-12-67, and Division Three winner was Trevor Towers with an 87-17-70.
