Hundreds came to support and run this year’s Trawden 7 trail race, which has been part of the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix for many years.
But following the success of the weekly parkruns in Pendle and Burnley, Trawden AC decided to include junior races for the first time this year.
Over 50 junior runners took part, with a carnival atmosphere at Trawden Recreation Ground.
All junior runners each received a medal and goody bag. Giddy Kipper’s Nelson sponsored the junior prizes, raising £85 for Pendleside Hospice on the sale of handmade children’s loom bands.
In the senior race, more than 150 runners took part, all eager to get to the finish line and claim their free bottle of ‘Trail Ale’!
Marc Hartley from Stoke AC was first across the line with a time of 38 minutes 40 seconds, followed closely by Barlick Fell Runners Jimmy Craig and Nick Treitl.
Ladies’ race winner was Sarah Tipler from Barlick Fell Runners, followed by Trawden AC’s Autumn Howard. Third place went to Barlick’s Lorraine Slater.
Paul Brown, chairman of Trawden AC, said: “Our race organisers pulled out all the stops, making this the biggest and best race we’ve hosted.
“All those I’ve spoken to really enjoyed the day and it can only be bigger and better next year!”
