Pendle West Craven swimmers have been busy in action for Skipton Swimming Club.
More experienced squad members were competing at the Stockport Metro, while the younger swimmers were competing at the Harrogate Spa Town meet.
At the Hydro in Harrogate, Lily Pratt, nine, a pupil at Coates Lane Primary, achieved a new Yorkshire qualifying time for 200m backstroke in a time of 3:17:09.
She also competed for the first time in the 200m IM event, and improved her PB in the 50m backstroke, but was unable to compete in the 50m Free race as she was too fast!
Sister Macy Pratt, 13, of Skipton Girls’ High, achieved PBs in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle. She also gained valuable experience in two new events, the 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle.
Harvey Pennington, 11, a pupil at Foulridge St Michael and All Angels Primary,achieved a Yorkshire time for 200m backstroke in 3:00:12 – the first time he had competed in this event. He also gained a 10-second PB and Yorkshire time for the 200 IM and a PB and Yorkshire time for the 50m breaststroke.
Harrogate Spa was the first competitive outing for Fennella Turner, a pupil at Salterforth Primary. Shewas fourth in the 50mfreestyle with a 10-second PB, making her ninth fastest nine-year-old in Britain!
She also achieved PBs in the 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 200m IM.
At Stockport, Madison Turner, 11, of West Craven High, was fourth in the 200m backstroke in a North East Regional time for the championships in May at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. She also gained a PB and fourth place in the 100m backstroke, and a PB and fifth in the 50m backstroke.
