In sunny conditions, Marsden Park Golf Club – whose course has recently been under threat of closure – hosted the prestigious ELGA Golf Association Scratch Trophy 2016.

Clitheroe won the Scratch Trophy, with Marsden Park Golf Club, represented by Stuart Buckley, John Ellison, Adrian Lingard and Craig Fort, winning the President’s Trophy for the best nett score.

Over 50 leading golfers took part in the event.

The captain of Marsden Park John Catlow thanked the groundstaff of Pendle Leisure for all their hard work, ensuring the course was in excellent condition.

Ladies at Colne competed for the Charity Shield, in aid of Pendleside Hospice, and third medal. Freda Lester won with a score of 93-21-72, one point ahead of Cheryl Barnes, whose nett score of 73 pipped Eileen Foulds into third by one shot.
