While away in Jamaica with England Under 21s, back home, Barrowford’s Natalie Haythornthwaite is a poster girl for the seniors’ autumn series with South Africa!
As preparations for next month’s World Youth Championships in Glasgow continue, at the weekend, Natalie, 20, helped England Under 21s beat Trinidad and Tobago 53-40, before losing 53-26 to Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls the following day, and again 50-34 on Wednesday.
And while Natalie has been in action in the Caribbean, she is at the forefront of the marketing campaign to sell tickets for England’s International Series against South Africa which starts in September.
Natalie was named in the senior squad for their historic series win against Australia at the turn of the year, although she was kept failing for her first full cap.
But the poster shows she is very much considered part of the present and future of England Netball.
The three-match contest takes place towards the end of September, as the team head to Bath, London and Worcester, with Natalie hoping to be part of the squad again.
The opening match will take place at the University of Bath on Sunday, September 22nd, from 1-30 p.m.
Three days later the action heads to London and Wembley Arena, before a final stop off in Worcester brings the Series to a conclusion on Friday, the 27th.
But first, it is all about the World Youth Championships, which Natalie and the squad have been preparing for for the last four years.
In May, she helped England Under 21s win the Netball Europe competition in Cardiff, having returned from a tour series Down Under against the Australian Institute of Sport,
The Worlds, at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, start on August 22nd.
