Barrowford’s Natalie Haythornthwaite will travel with the England squad to Sydney for the Netball World Cup next month as a training partner and reserve.
Natalie, who recently picked up her first three senior caps for her country in the recent series with Trinidad and Tobago, after being voted the Netball Superleague Player of the Year, will join the full pool, along with former Team Bath players Kadeen and Sasha Corbin and Ama Agbeze.
The 22-year-old Yorkshire Jets star, who plays goal attack and wing attack, said on her twitter page: “Very happy to be named as TrainingPartner travelling to Sydney with the WC squad – big opportunity and another step up the ladder on where I want to be!”
Natalie, a former Fisher-More, and Nelson and Colne College student, previously captained the Great Britain squad to gold at the World University Games in Cape Town, and led the England Under 21 team, before being named in the full England squad of 15 for the three-match International Series against Australia in January 2013.
The World Cup is held between August 7th and 16th, and Tracey Neville’s 12-strong England squad in full is: Geva Mentor (c), Pamela Cookey (v-c), Sara Bayman, Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Jade Clarke, Rachel Dunn, Stacey Francis, Tamsin Greenway, Serena Guthrie, Jo Harten, Helen Housby, Sonia Mkoloma.
Fans can watch every England match of the World Cup live on Sky Sports, starting with Scotland on August 7th. The following night England taken on Jamaica, and on the 9th, face Samoa. August 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th sees the qualification matches, with the semi-finals on the 15th, and final and bronze medal match on the 16th.
