Pendle Forest beat Clitheroe 1-0 to extend their 100% record in North Hockey Women’s League Division Two North West.

From the whistle, Clitheroe set the pace, and a Forest defender was robbed of the ball and was lucky not to be punished when a shot flew over the crossbar at close range.

Midway through the first half, a right wing cross from Charlotte O’Brien was fired against the keeper’s pads by Karen Nuttall, but she swiftly followed up to score.

The game was then halted for several minutes when a timely display of fireworks, from a nearby wedding celebrated the goal!

In the second half, Forest keeper Laura Kendall - player of the match - made a crucial, reflex save whilst already down in defensive mode, ensuring victory for Forest.

Tomorrow the first team play Springfields in a top of the table clash.

Forest seconds earned a well-deserved victory over Blackpool Ladies in a nail-biting match.

Ten minutes in, Mawgan Naylor passed to Amy Trickett, who ran towards the base line and fed Judith Hind, who lifted it over the keeper.

But minutes before half-time a ball off the post hit a defending foot and ricocheted in for the equaliser.

There were chances for both sides in the second half, but Forest scored a late winner after advantage was played after a foot in the D and Hannah Tofalos slotted the ball in at the near post.

Forest thirds went down 2-1 at home to Springfield fourths. Forest started well, but went 2-0 down, before responding well in the second half, pulling one back when Harriet Ashworth fired to Zoe Kidney on the right, who played an outstanding reverse stick sweep to Cath Hutchinson on the left, who slotted in.
