On Sunday, Tom Ashby, Ghyll Golf Club’s President enjoyed what was a very competitive, and enjoyable day’s golf.

In his speech he thanked, individually, all the many people who contributed to the occasion, making it such a success.

The main success of the day for Tony Turner, was in winning!

His score over the 22-hole course was 48 points.

Tony’s speech reminded those present that seven years ago he won Captain’s Day first prize when...Tom Ashby was captain!

Tony Stocker was second also with 48 points, Mick Boardman third with 46 points, Ivan Rhodes fourth also with 46 points and Maurice Lloyd fifth with 44 points - a memorable day on what is continuing to be a great course.

The previous day, the President’s Prize for Juniors was won by Sam Bugler.

Jack Cheetham was second and Adam Rowley was third.

This was a week to remember for Jack, who earlier on was the Division 3 winner of the Under 15 Championship of the Bradford and District Union of Golf Clubs.

Ghyll ladies played for the White Rose Trophy last Tuesday, and junior member Emma Blades, made club history for the second time this season.

She finished victorious with 38 points, having previously won the Junior Hunter Trophy!

Second was Eileen Chapple with 37 points, and third Eva Brown with 34.
