Success for Pendle Athletic Club youngsters!

PENDLE Athletic Club had 14 athletes in action at the recent Lancashire Track and Field Championships at Stanley Park, Blackpool, and they returned home with 10 county titles and 20 medals!

In the Under 13 Boys’ category, Joe Lonsdale was Lancashire champion at 100m and picked up the silver medal in the 200m. Joe is ranked 18th in the UK at 100m.

Gregan Baker won the Under 13 Boys’ javelin. He had broken his existing club record the previous week and he is now ranked 12th in the UK.

In the Under 15 Girls’ age group, Leah Hillman won the discus, shot and javelin.

In the javelin Leah produced a Championship Best performance, breaking the club record which has stood since 1990, and she is now ranked sixth in the UK in the event.

Under 17 male athlete Neng Wildman gained personal bests collecting a silver in the 100m and Bronze in the 200m.

Under 20 athlete Helena Leathley is also a triple Lancashire champion, gaining gold medals at 400m hurdles, 1,500m and 2,000m steeplechase.

In the steeplechase her time was a Championship Best performance and a new club record, and Helena is now ranked 14th in the UK in the event.

Under 20 male Zac Child is now Lancashire champion at Javelin – breaking his existing club record with his performance.

Under 20 athlete James Blackburn is also county champion at long jump , adding silver in the triple jump.

Senior athlete Alan Plumb is Lancashire champion at Shot and he also took bronze in the hammer.

Senior athlete Leeroy Golding took bronze in the discus, and fellow senior Eleanor Markendale is Lancashire champion at Long Jump, and also collected silver medals in the 100m hurdles and javelin.

Natrika Wildman, Daemon Metcalfe, Spencer Phelan and Tiarnan Crorken also put in good performances, and gained personal best performances, Tiarnan and Spencer just missing out on medals.
