Richard Whittle sailing his Solo dinghy scored two wins in the concluding Sunday of Burwain Sailing Club’s opening race series.
In the light winds he was untouchable on handicap, and even crossed the line first in the second race, beating faster boats round the course. Michael Leake secured second place in the series with a second and third place.
Innes Armstrong, the previous leader in the series, decided to take his GP14 to the popular Eskimo Trophy event run by Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club on the Wyre.
And he came away with third place in a large and very competitive fleet.
This past weekend, a group of sailors from Burwain Sailing Club attended the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace in London, at which there was a formal presentation to mark the club achieving Volvo Championship Club status.
This brings funding for professional coaching for young racing sailors at the club.
