Matt Nutter hit an unbeaten century as Barnoldswick opened with the new term’s first 10-wicket whitewash in the derby.

Barlick, who were leapfrogged by Earby in the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale Cricket League Senior Division shake-up, restricted their neighbours to 186-7 at Victory Park on Saturday.

And it soon became apparent that the Applegarth outfit’s total was never enough, despite professional Dave Crotty’s 79 not out.

Only 18 of Nutter’s 110 not out didn’t come in fours or sixes, as he received invaluable support from Abdul Saddique, who hit 64, as Barnoldswick eased to victory without loss.

Earby batted first and lost skipper Matthew Haines for seven, caught by Nutter off Mohammed Saffii , but Chris Walton and Crotty managed to occupy the crease before the former fell for 28, caught by Saffii off Sajid Akhtar.

Crotty then lost Adam Yates without scoring as Akhtar claimed a second victim, before Jake Greenbank added only two before Abdul Saddique got in on the act.

Danny Kegg joined his former Nelson colleague Crotty and made 27, but Saffii bowled him for a third wicket, before Barlick professional Kyle Marshall took the last two wickets to fall, bowling Jake Hargreaves for one before having Iain Clarkson leg before for seven.

Crotty finished unbeaten on 79 as Earby closed on 186-7.

Barnoldswick had little trouble knocking the winning runs off as Nutter went to town, ably supported by Abdul Saddique.

The pair required only 29.1 overs to pass the target, with Nutter 110 not out and Saddique unbeaten on 64.

Barnoldswick will look to build on their opening day victory at Read tomorrow, while Earby have a free date.
