Teenager Sam Parry has brought some cheer to Earby Cricket Club.
With the club’s seniors relegated from the top tier of the Ribblesdale Cricket League and the second string dropping from Division One, doom and gloom descended on the Applegarth.
However, Sam, 14, who represents the under 15s in the Upper Airedale Junior Cricket League, gave Earby something to smile about as he scooped three awards.
The Colne Primet Academy pupil, who is on the Yorkshire CC pathway programme, scooped a bowling award for taking 19 wickets at an average of 5.32 and also won the league fielding accolade. He was presented with the Tom Barritt Memorial Trophy after being named the under 15 cricketer of the year.
