Former Nelson and Colne College hairdressing student Tyler Potts is set to embark on a career working with the stars as he starts a degree programme in hair and make up for film and TV at the prestigious London College of Fashion!

Tyler completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 at the college and was able to take advantage of the “real-life” work environment to hone his skills.

He was a talented and dedicated stylist from the outset and was the Level 3 Avant Garde winner at the college’s annual Hairdressing competition, creating a fantastic and imaginative design based on the film Avatar.

Tyler is the only person on the highly competitive course in London to have gained entry directly from a Hairdressing programme – evidently his skills and persona made him an excellent candidate for this degree programme!

His hairdressing tutor Sarah Christie said: “Everyone in the hairdressing department is thrilled for Tyler and think he is very deserving of his success.

“He has shown commitment to the course from day one and is a fantastic role model for other students to show that with hard work, talent and dedication, you can aim very high and achieve what you want to!”

Tyler said: “So far I am having a great time in London and I have started my first project which is to create a character relating to ‘Retrofuturism.

“I feel really lucky to get onto such a fantastic course in London and I hope to be doing hair and makeup for big Hollywood films one day.”
