AN enthralling evening of songs and music from Pam and Paddy comprised the latest meeting of Le Cercle Français de Ribblesdale.
The duo are based in the Huddersfield area but have performed many times for the French Circle in the Ribble Valley. With just a keyboard, recorder and tambourine, they filled the Great Hall at Whalley Abbey with a repertoire of French songs from different genres.
Wonderfully harmonised, they performed several “Chants d’Auvergne”, a Piaf number and many other “Chansons”. Not only was the evening entertaining, but also informative, as Pam and Paddy talked about the origins of the songs and their meanings.
They have been together for 25 years after a chance meeting at a charity function and have continued to entertain audiences since then, often for charity.
The next meeting of Le Cercle Français will be on May 10th at 7-30 p.m. in The Great Hall at Whalley Abbey when there will be the AGM followed by a film. Further information can be found at www.cerclefribblesdale.co.uk
