A Rossendale-based choir called Valley Aloud have had the celebratory Prosecco on hand at recent rehersals after claiming two awards at the Burnley Music Festival.

Competing in the ‘Pop, Rock, and Gospel’ and ‘Adult Choirs’ categories, the Crawshawbooth choir - led by Grant Bromley - won awards in both categories with songs such as Run by Snow Patrol and Supercalifragilistiexpialidocious, to which the auditorium erupted in rapturous applause.

Having beat off competition from five other choirs, Grant Bromley said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to see a community choir working really hard and achieving something fantastic while having a laugh!”.

Also claiming the title of 'Best Adult Choir' for the third year in a row, the choir - which has over 60 members - are not letting winning get to their heads and are looking at potentially competing at the Isle of Man festival in October and the North Wales Choral Festival in November.

"I'm very excited to see what the choir can achieve next," added Grant. "We always welcome new members and we have a great time!”
