A CONCERT organised by Pendle Youth Choir will take place this weekend in memory of Colne teenager Jerry Gray.

Thirteen-year-old Jerry, who lost his battle with cancer in April days after donating £1,300 to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, was described as “thoughtful and unselfish” by his grandmother Jean for wanting to help others.

Today’s concert was originally going to be held for him, but his friends at Pendle Youth Choir have decided to go ahead with it in memory of him and members of Pendle Children’s Choir and Primet Primary School Choir will also sing.

As a former youth choir singer, messages which have flooded Facebook in Jerry’s memory have been collected by other youth choir members and Evie Rapson and Tom Gill will sing “Jerry’s song” which they hope to record for charity.

The concert will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Colne, at 7 p.m. and all proceeds and donations will go to Ward 84 at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
