X FACTOR favourite Jahmene Douglas is being backed by the team at Colne’s Asda ahead of this weekend’s grand final.
On Tuesday, staff members at the Corporation Street site showed just how much they want the soulful star to win the ITV competition by wearing Jahmene masks and holding a banner of support. Televisions in the supermarket were also changed to a picture of Jahmene’s face.
This is not the first time that an Asda store has campaigned to crown Jahmene, a process colleague at Asda Haydon in Swindon, winner of The X Factor 2012.
Stores up and down the country have been doing their bit to help the 21-year-old singer fulfil his dreams, by changing the name of the supermarket’s chicken chow mein to “Chicken Jahmene” for a limited period, and creating “Vote Jahmene” T-shirts. Jahmene captured the heart of the nation during his first audition for the reality show, with his rendition of Etta James’ hit “At Last”. He has since gone from strength to strength in the show, with the help of his mentor and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.
Last week, the shy contestant managed to bag himself a place in the competition final, where he will be competing against James Arthur, who is also mentored by Nicole, and Christopher Maloney, who is mentored by Take That star Gary Barlow.
Heartthrobs Union J were the latest act to be booted off the show.
