A popular John Godber play will be coming to Laneshaw Bridge over the weekend.

“Happy Jack”, one of Godber’s earliest works, tells the story of the playwright’s grandparents Jack and Liz, who died in the 1970s.

Throughout the performance, the audience will be given an insight into the working-class family from Upton, in West Yorkshire, whose small pleasures in life come from their family holidays to Blackpool, Cleethorpes and Whitley Bay.

It will be performed by The Library Theatre Touring Company at the village’s methodist chapel, in Keighley Road, from 7-30pm on Saturday.

Organised by Laneshaw Bridge Community Enterprise, tickets are priced at £5 and £3.50 for concessions. Call 861034 for more information.
